Wanting it all

Since picked up running again, my workouts have been fairly intense, easily driving my heart rate above 160. There is nothing wrong with that, at least as far as I know, but I remember that a couple of years ago, jogging had been a much more relaxing endeavor. I also keep hearing from experts that one should exercise at different heart rate levels to increase endurance.

Slowing down

Therefore, I have decided to deliberately slow down and keep myself from releasing all the energy within me at once. I am quite happy with my first attempt, I managed to keep my average heart rate at 142, though that includes my warm up and cool down, so in reality it will be closer to 150 during my actual run.

Despite not running any faster, my heart rate kept rising towards the end. From now on I will observe this more closely, hoping I can get it to be more steady over time.
